Montenegro is located on the Adriatic Coastline, sharing borders with Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Albania. The country is mostly mountainous with a Mediterranean climate on the coast and an alpine climate inland. London is 2.5 hours by air, there are good connections to all major European cities and by sea from Italy and Croatia. The country uses the EURO as it's official currency although entry to the EU itself is still a few years away yet. Part of the former Yugoslavia, and an independent country since 2006, the language spoken is Serbian and the food a mix of Balkans, Greek, Turkish and Italian influences, reflecting Montenegro's many years under rule by neighbouring countries.
The country's main airport is Podgorica International Airport (connections to London, Zurich, Belgrade and Frankfurt with Montenegrin Airlines). Other regional airports include Tivat on the Montenegrin coast (connections to London and Belgrade) and Dubrovnik Cilipi Airport in Croatia (Easyjet, British Airways and Croatian Airlines serving London, Manchester, Frankfurt, Zurich, Vienna).
In-country transfers can be arranged by Black Mountain, one of the race organisers, whose travel agency is on hand to assist with all aspects of getting to, from and staying in Montenegro. There will also be race buses travelling from regional airports to the start and from the finish on fixed days and times prior to and after the race.
